70s retro is in fashion when it comes to taxes

Would you have guessed that the tax take in Britain as a percentage of GDP is now higher than it was in 1975? Well it is, by 2.1%. The UK is not an outlier in this in the OECD. Taxes as a percentage of GDP have increased in all these countries since 1975 with the exception of Holland.
