Vivendi goes shopping

Friday, 14th September 2007

After years of restructuring, French telecoms to media conglomerate Vivendi has turned acquisitive. Vivendi, which controls France’s second mobile phone operator, SFR, and Maroc Telecom, looks set to buy 20% to 30% of Dubai’s Oger Telecom for $2bn to $3bn. Oger has 55% of Turk Telecom, bought last year for $9.1bn, and operations in South Africa and the Middle East. Saudi Oger, its parent, scrapped plans to list it in London last autumn. Looks like it’ll list, indirectly, on Euronext-Paris instead.
