Alistair Darling could be on the verge of turning local councils into more than just bin tippers, or so says the Daily Mail. If the plan to get the property market moving again gets the go ahead Liverpudlians, at least, could find themselves going cap in hand to the local council for a mortgage if they’ve been turned down by the banks. I dread to think what this could do to council tax.
